Zygo Corporation Anounced that Gary K. Willis, has suffered a mild heart attack

MIDDLEFIELD, CONNECTICUT (October 3, 1997)......Zygo Corporation (NASDAQ:ZIGO) today announced that Gary K. Willis, president and chief executive officer, has suffered a mild heart attack. Mr. Willis is resting comfortably at his home. Mr. Willis is in daily contact with the Company and continues to fulfill his responsibilities as the chief executive officer of ZYGO while recuperating.

Mr. Willis is expected to return to the Company's offices within four to six weeks. During the interim period, Mark Bonney, vice president and chief financial officer, will act as the primary liaison with Mr. Willis and coordinate the operations of the Company.

Zygo Corporation designs, develops, manufactures, and markets high performance measurement and yield improvement instruments, systems, and accessories used in high technology industries. The Company is headquartered in Middlefield, Connecticut, and also has operations in Asslar, Germany; Longmont, Colorado; and in Newbury Park, Sunnyvale, and Simi Valley, California.
