ZYGO CORPORATION ANNOUNCES DOLOMITE 200A COMPLEMENTING ITS EXISTING LINE OF SCANNING PROBE MICROSCOPES

MIDDLEFIELD, CONNECTICUT (July 12, 1999)......Zygo Corporation (NASDAQ:ZIGO) today announced the Dolomite 200A, a new Atomic Force Microscope that will complement its existing line of scanning probe microscopes. The Dolomite 200A introduces the power of nondestructive, noncontact, automated Critical Dimension metrology measurements into the manufacturing or pilot line, providing solutions as no other AFM can.

The Dolomite 200A offers the unique capability to perform critical dimension measurements of the height, top, middle and base widths, side-wall angles, as well as reentrant profiles of submicron structures. All of the measurements are accomplished nondestructively, virtually eliminating the need to cleave wafers and resulting in significant cost savings.

On July 12-14 at the Semicon West Trade in San Francisco, Zygo Corporation will be introducing a new scanning methodology, which dramatically increases the throughput of its AFM instruments. The new feature called "Road Runner," implemented on the Dolomite 200A, as well as other ZYGO AFMs, has demonstrated scan speeds more than 10 times higher than the prior technique, resulting in more than double the overall instrument throughput.

Additional new features available on the Dolomite 200A are, Auto Illumination, Auto Focus, Auto Calibration, and Real Time Rendering. Whether your requirements are for manufacturing, pilot line, or research and development, Zygo Corporation offers a full complement of Atomic Force Microscopes handling samples up to 300mm and capable of measuring features below .18┬Ám.

Zygo Corporation designs, develops, manufactures, and markets high performance measurement and yield improvement instruments, custom automation systems, and accessories used in high technology industries. The Company is headquartered in Middlefield, Connecticut, and also has operations in Asslar, Germany; Longmont, Colorado; and sales offices throughout the world. ZYGO is traded on the Nasdaq National Market under the symbol ZIGO. Additional information on the Company is available on the Internet at www.zygo.com.
