ZYGO Announces New Production Interferometers for Consumer Electronics Market
New Systems Provide Production Optical Metrology for the Rapidly Growing Consumer Electronics Market

MIDDLEFIELD, CT, Jun. 11, 2004 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Zygo Corporation (NASDAQ: ZIGO) ZYGO announced the introduction of its new PTI 250 family of interferometers supporting the consumer electronics market. DVD and CD media players and data storage drives, cell phone cameras, video projectors, and digital cameras use high volume, high performance optics often requiring production testing as provided by this family of interferometers. The PTI 250 incorporates ZYGO's newly announced FlashPhase™, which provides extraordinary stability for use in production environments.

"Consumer electronics optics are surprisingly sophisticated," stated Robert Smythe, Corporate Vice President and Director of Interferometer Products. "For example, DVD media players and data storage drives contain multiple optical elements that often require 100% testing for rapid process control feedback, yield control, and reduction of manufacturing costs. The PTI 250 family is designed to address this rapidly growing market. This is an entirely new product line for ZYGO, and expands on our present interferometer products."

The PTI 250 line includes four new interferometer configurations from the simplest visual-only to a full R&D and QC system for lab applications. In support of worldwide production, the computer interface is offered in multiple languages, including Japanese and traditional and simplified Chinese.

Zygo Corporation (NASDAQ: ZIGO), headquartered in Middlefield, Connecticut, is a worldwide supplier of optical metrology instruments, precision optics, and electro-optical design and manufacturing services, serving customers in the semiconductor capital equipment and industrial markets.
