Interferometer Setup for Testing Concave Optics
Transmission spheres (TS) are used when measuring the surface quality or transmitted wavefront of concave or convex surfaces or optics. A concave or convex spherical surface is examined for surface figure and irregularity by placing its center of curvature coincident with the focus of the transmission sphere.

ZYGO offers a complete line of high quality transmission spheres (TS), designed to provide optimum interferometer performance. They are used in conjunction with a laser Fizeau interferometer for the measurement of the surface form or transmitted wavefront of spherical optics and assemblies.

ZYGO's optics are specified and fully qualified to ensure accurate metrology for applications ranging from testing of conventionally polished ultra smooth surfaces, to providing critical metrology feedback for small tool polishing processes.

The transmission spheres mount directly into the interferometer's Accessory Receptacle and other adjustable ZYGO mounts. Each Transmission Sphere comes in a protective storage case with a quality certification.

ZYGO currently offers four types of transmission spheres...

• Standard Performance Transmission Spheres (λ/10)
Best for metrology of optics with ≤ 40% reflectivity.

• Standard Performance Dynaflect™ Transmission Spheres (λ/10)
Best for metrology of optics with > 40% reflectivity.

• High Performance Transmission Spheres (λ/20)
Best for metrology of optics with ≤ 40% reflectivity.

UltraSphere™ Transmission Spheres (λ/40)
Best for metrology of optics with ≤ 40% reflectivity.
