|ZYGO FOUNDERS RECEIVE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FROM THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR PRECISION ENGINEERING|
MIDDLEFIELD, CONNECTICUT (December 8, 1997)......Zygo Corporation (NASDAQ:ZIGO) announced today that the three founders of Zygo Corporation, Paul F. Forman, Sol F. Laufer, and Carl A. Zanoni, were recently honored at the twelfth annual meeting of the American Society for Precision Engineering held in Norfolk, Virginia. The three jointly received the ASPE Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is significant and prestigious in that it is not given annually, but only when the significant accomplishments of the recipients so warrant. The American Society for Precision Engineering is a multidisciplinary professional and technical society concerned with the research and development, design, manufacture, and measurement of high accuracy components and systems. The organization sought to recognize the achievements and contributions of Forman, Laufer, and Zanoni to the worldwide precision engineering community at large. In 1970 they founded Zygo Corporation-each bringing a key skill to the organization-and together, guided it through its first 20 years of existence. ZYGO, today, is recognized as one of the world's most successful metrology and yield improvement system companies.
Commenting on the receipt of the lifetime achievement award, President and Chief Executive Officer, Gary Willis, said, "This award not only honors the significant contribution and accomplishments of our company's three founders, but also recognizes the achievements of all of ZYGO's employees, both past and present, who have had the opportunity to work alongside these three gentlemen. It is with great pride that we all acknowledge and congratulate our company's founders."
