|ZYGO RECEIVES OVER $1 MILLION IN METROLOGY SYSTEM ORDERS FROM TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY|
MIDDLEFIELD, CONNECTICUT April 12, 2000…..Zygo Corporation, a world leader in interferometric metrology, received multiple orders for its expanded line of automated test systems for telecommunications industry. The orders, which were received during the third quarter, were from leading manufacturers of optical-based components and subsystems and will be shipped to customers starting in June 2000.
By providing automated, production-ready and precise surface measurements of micro-optics, filters, and mirrors, these products are enabling manufacturers to precisely control critical part parameters in production. This results in increased process control, reduced production costs, and higher yields. These capabilities are paramount as the industry shifts toward high-volume capacity, high-functionality optical systems to meet the requirements of increased bandwidth.
These interferometer-based products employ innovative techniques for rapid and precise noncontact, 3-D surface characterization of microlens arrays, discrete micro-lenses, molded aspheric optics, miniature mirrors, miniature filters, and a variety of other micro-optical components. Integral to each system are advanced software capabilities and automated motion control for rapid and robust measurements in production environments. Typical surface measurement output data includes radius of curvature, surface form, transmitted wavefront, roughness, and step height.
