|Northrop Grumman Selects ZYGO to Supply Sapphire Windows|
MIDDLEFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 27, 2003--ZYGO Corporation (NASDAQ: ZIGO) announced today that they have received an order from Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) to supply custom sapphire windows for advanced infrared target acquisition systems.
Under this agreement, ZYGO will soon commence delivery of the critical sapphire windows which will be used in the F-16 Block 60's Integrated Forward-Looking Infrared and Targeting System (IFTS).
Independent tests carried out under the sponsorship of the U.S. Air Force Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (now known as the Missile Defense Agency) have shown ZYGO's sapphire finishing process to yield exceptionally high flexural strength. This results in superior window durability.
"ZYGO is proud to be a key supplier for Northrop Grumman Corporation," said Bruce Robinson, Zygo Corporation's president and CEO. "Northrop Grumman's selection of ZYGO is a major step toward our goal of growing the defense and aerospace segment of our business."
