Flat optics can be fabricated in a variety of geometries, including round, square, rectangular, and free-form. Cubes and prisms are also classified as flat optics. Flat optics have a wide variety of applications, including windows, mirrors, filters, transmission optics, reference optics, and wedges. ZYGO can produce flat optics ranging in size from a few millimeters to greater than 1 meter.

ZYGO has developed a wide range of manufacturing processes to fabricate flat optics that operate in the infrared (IR), visible, and ultra-violet (UV) parts of the spectrum. Similarly, ZYGO has experience with multi-spectral applications, combining IR and visible. Flat optics can be provided with or without thin film coatings
